In Claire’s world she would be called an Echo or Advanced Morph (“Morph” being short for Anthropomorphic animal.) because calling someone a telepath on paper sounds insane.

Claire’s ability allows her to hear the thoughts (and sometimes feel the pain) of those around her. She can always hear those close by and has gotten fairly good at tuning the voices out. She can expand her range if she wants but reaching out too far can cause pain or even dissociation if she gets overwhelmed by all the voices and starts forgetting her own identity. This can also happen if she tries digging for deeper thoughts and/or memories

One safe way she can reach past her normal boundaries is if she’s listening for one mind she knows well. (She knew her Uncle was alive even when they were 150+ miles apart)

While she tries not to she can also send her thoughts out and even make someone feel pain or dizzyness.

During a highly stressful situation she was able to make someone not see a door she was hiding behind. She was also able to convince him he was aiming to low, causing him to adjust his aim and shoot over her head.

Limitations:
The major limiting factor in Claire’s telepathy is that using it to much causes great pain, it can also cause both her body temperature and blood pressure to rise leading to over heating and nosebleeds, her father died of a burst blood vessel in the brain due to over using his own telepathy. And another telepath pushed himself so hard that he fell into a catatonic state.
